Radio / Borders Community Radio & Media Ltd. hereby gives 21 days notice of our
to be held in the Function Room at Galashiels Golf Club, Ladhope Recreation Ground
Tuesday 30th May 2017
7.30m for a 7.45 start – ALL WELCOME.
We would particularly like to identify more willing volunteers, with time to spare, to help ensure
that YOUR community radio station can continue to provide a service for YOU into the future.
We need more volunteers both behind the microphone to present and increase our local show profile
- it's your local station so the content of the shows is very much up to you. Please do not worry about
any lack of technical skills as training and support will be provided.
Of equal importance, we need to expand our back office team - there are many tasks that
are required off-air to ensure that the on-air service is adequately supported = news gathering,
identifying advertisers, fund-raisers, finance / business guiries etc. Whatever your area of
expertise, we really would like to welcome you as part of our community team. Our current
team have been working so hard to keep things going and much credit and thanks to them for
that - but we truly can't expect such a small number of unpaid volunteers to continue without
more support to share the burden.
News release - Thoughts are with
all those concerned at this sad time -
Due to concerns being raised for
an overdue kayaker, who had left Burnmouth earlier that day but had not yet
returned, both Eyemouth RNLI lifeboats were launched by the UK Coastguard at
20:37 on Tuesday 16 May 2017.
The inshore lifeboat carried out a thorough search of the coastline from Eyemouth to Burnmouth, whilst the all weather lifeboat searched further offshore. Local Coastguard teams also commenced a shore based search.
The crew of the inshore lifeboat located the casualty and kayak onshore approximately 400 metres north of Burnmouth, CPR commenced immediately.
The casualty was transferred to a stretcher and taken by the inshore lifeboat to Burnmouth harbour, where they were handed over to the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
Tragically, an update was received that the casualty had not survived.
The thoughts of everyone at Eyemouth lifeboat station go out to the family at this very sad time.
